IQAlert is a companion app for registered Garmin watch apps and watchfaces.It can be useful for Garmin watchfaces which might need to alert the user periodically. However, due to watchface limitations, they can not issue, by themselves, alerts for the user, e.g. by vibrating the watch.IQAlert makes such alerts possible. The watch can send a command to IQAlert which then produces a notification on the phone, together with text, vibration and sound (depending on the command sent).The notification is sent to the watch, displaying the notification text and vibrating the watch - which is standard behavior for notifications arriving on the watch.Due to limitations imposed by Garmin on watch-phone communications, the watchface can send such alert commands to the phone maximally every 5 minutes.Also, even if the alert command requests vibration on the phone, this might happen only when the phone is not in power saving mode and IQAlert is in the foreground. However, IQAlert can play alert sounds on the phone even when it is in the background.IQAlert starts listening to messages from registered Garmin watch apps/watchfaces as soon as it is installed.The user can stop and restart this listening process. IQAlert works, even when it is in the background.
